Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST has released its supplementary postgraduate programmes admission application form for the 2016/2017 academic session which is now out.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for supplementary admission into Postgraduate Programmes in the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt for the 2016/2017 academic session in the Faculty of Engineering.


RSUST SUPPLEMENTARY POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION – AVAILABLE PROGRAMMES.

A. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL AND APPLIED ECONOMICS/EXTENSION
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in
Development Economics and Planning (Full-time: Minimum Duration(4 semesters); Maximum Duration(6 semesters)
Monetary Economics (Full-time: Minimum Duration(4 semesters); Maximum Duration(6 semesters)
Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with options in (Agricultural Extension Administration, Agricultural Extension Communication, Rural Sociology, Community and Rural Development) (Full-time: Minimum Duration(4 semesters); Maximum Duration(6 semesters)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in

RSUST SUPPLEMENTARY POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS.
MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES

Candidates seeking admission for the Master of Science in the options listed above must have one of the following qualifications from recognized institutions:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minimum of Second Class Lower
Postgraduate Diploma in Economics with a CGPA of 3.50 or above on a 5-point grade system.

B. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES

In addition to satisfying the RSUST Matriculation qualifications, a candidate for a PhD programme shall also have the following:
An applicant for the PhD programme in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics Extension must possess a Master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 or above, on a five-point grade system, in any option in Economics, obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized institution of higher learning of equivalent status
For the PhD in Urban and Regional Planning, a candidate must possess a Master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 or above, on a five-point grade system, in Urban and Regional Planning, obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized institution of higher learning of equivalent In addition to the above, all qualified applicants will be required to submit a written research proposal which will be defended by the candidate during an oral interview.
An applicant for the D. programme in Estate Management must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower degree in Estate Management in addition to an MPhil. or MSc (with Dissertation or Thesis) in Estate Management; Real Estate; Land Economy or any cognate discipline from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized University with a minimum of CGPA of 3.50 on a five-point scale and 3.00 on a four-point scale.

No person shall be admitted to a programme unless his/her application has been approved by the Postgraduate School Board on behalf of Senate and on the recommendation of the appropriate Faculty Committee.

Note: In addition to the conditions above, a candidate may be required to present himself/herself for a selection test and/or oral interview.


HOW TO APPLY FOR RSUST SUPPLEMENTARY POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION.

Applications for admission to any postgraduate programme shall be made on-line by logging onto www.ust.edu.ng and making an e-payment of thirty thousand naira (N30,000.00) only, using interswitch verve – enabled cards. Application forms should be completed on-line, downloaded and hard copies submitted to the Secretary, Postgraduate School along with the following:

i) Photocopies of Certificates.

ii) Certified academic transcripts. (It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that copies of their academic transcripts are forwarded under confidential cover directly to The Secretary, Postgraduate School, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt).

iii) Letter of reference from three referees, including one from a previous academic institution, stating that applicant is qualified to undertake advanced studies and research and that he (the Referee) is confident that the applicant will benefit from the training.

iv) A brief research proposal on your intended areas of study should also accompany the application forms.

Deadline: The deadline for submission of applications on-line and at the Postgraduate School is 20th November, 2016.
