A. FACULTY OF ARTS

All candidates who possess five credits (5) passes in relevant O’ Level subjects including English and Mathematics at not more than TWO sittings and not less than 21 years of age are eligible to apply.

B. FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (MASS COMMUNICATION)

5 Year Programme

Five (5) credits passes in O’Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English and any other two (2) credit passes from any other discipline at not more than Two Sittings

4 Year Programme

Diploma Certificate in Mass Communication from University of Lagos or from other accredited University recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 and above on a 5 point scale; and also fulfilled the requirements in (1) above.

3 Year Programme

HND in Mass Communication from accredited Polytechnics and Monotechnics at credit pass with 2- year Post HND professional experience. The candidate must be registered member of relevant Regulatory Agencies and/or Professional Bodies such as APCON, NIPR, NUJ, etc. The candidate must similarly satisfy the requirements in (1) above.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates into the School of Foundation Studies, University of Lagos for the 2017/2018 Academic Session.

Cost of Application Form (including on line practice tests (excluding Bank Charges)): N25, 000.00 (non-refundable).

Make payment at any Commercial bank in Nigeria with the payment reference number (PRN)

– Return to the University website, click on School of Foundation Studies and click on continue Application. Log in with PRN and applicant’s surname in lowercase as password.

– Complete the application form, print two copies and bring along to the entrance examination on 10th – 14th July, 2017

All Questions are Multiple Choice.

Examination subjects are: Mathematics, English Language (20 questions each) and 3 other relevant subjects (according to candidates choice of subject combination) of 15 questions each, that is, a total of 85 questions to be answered in 1 hour.

Students are to report at designated venues – according to the schedule on the ExaminationPass.

All candidates must be at the designated venues two hours before the scheduled Examinationtime.

Results: Results and Merit Admission will be released on the University website on Tuesday, 25th July , 2017.

UNILAG Did Not Enforce a New Dress Code for Students

University of Lagos, UNILAG has not implemented any new dress code for students.

The attention of the University of Lagos has been drawn to the publications by Vanguard Newspaper of Tuesday, January 7, 2017 and a blog, olufamous.com with the title, “Unilag Introduces New Dress Code for Students… no more shakara”.

The University of Lagos wishes to inform the general public that it has not approved or implemented any new dress code for its students.

 The general public is hereby advised to discountenance any campaign in the print, electronic or social media claiming that the University of Lagos has introduced a new dress code for its students. All such claims are false and do not emanate from the University.

However, it is pertinent to state here that the University encourages students to dress decently and our watchword is “Dress as you want to be addressed”.

UNILAG Enforces New Dress Code, Bans Indecent Dressing

The management of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, on Tuesday introduced a dress code for students of the institution, banned tight-fitting clothes such as tight pair of trousers, mini-skirts, blouses and other body revealing ones.

The circular enforcing the dress code was pasted in the school and stated clearly that lecturers and administrators were empowered to correct/exclude students from lectures and official business when they are not properly dressed.

UNILAG Matriculates 7,882 Students for 2016/2017 Session

According to information gotten, the University Of Lagos (UNILAG) has matriculated a total number of 7822 students for the 2016/2017 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Rahamon Bello, on Friday challenged matriculating students to distinguish themselves in their academics so as to enjoy the institution’s motivational package for scholars.

Bello spoke at the 2016/2017 Matriculation ceremony for fresh students of the university in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 7,882 new students were administered the matriculation oath by the vice-chancellor.

Giving a breakdown of the number of the matriculating students, the V-C said that 7,882 students, representing 18.69 per cent, met the admissions criteria after a thorough screening.

He explained that 38,140 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) applicants and 4,310 direct entries, totaling 42, 440 applicants, began the selection process.

He said that out of the figure, 25,883 candidates scored 200 and above at the UTME.

Accordingly, 19,732 presented themselves for screening.

He told the matriculating students that gaining admission into the 54-year-old institution was not only noble, but also glorious.

The V-C added that completing the matriculation process was not the end of their journey to obtain tertiary education.

“It is the first step of a journey that will determine your future.

“It, therefore, requires you all to be determined, diligent, focus and resilient.

“You must show the zeal to acquire academic excellence for which this university is reputed.

“Shun cultism, indecent and immoral behaviours and other vices that can mar or abruptly end your sojourn here; as all forms of misconduct and misbehaviours will not be condoned,’’ Bello warned.

He urged the students to work hard to distinguish themselves in their academics as the university had a motivational package for scholars.

The university registrar, thereafter, administered the matriculation oath on the students on faculty basis.

The students had early in the week, taken on a familiarisation tour of the university as part of the orientation.

UNILAG FRESHMEN SCREENING PROCEDURE.

Stage 1: Uploading of Documents

Login to the Unilag Students Portal (www.unilag.edu.ng) and fill the Biodata form, print the Screening Form (students are expected to upload the underlisted documents while filling the Biodata form)

• Birth certificate
• Letter of reference
• Testimonial from secondary schools attended
• Certificate of state of origin
• JAMB Admission letter (if available)
• Previous Degree Certificate (DE students)

Stage 2: Generate pay advice and proceed to any bank to make payment and then to the screening venue as scheduled.

Stage 3: Screening

Proceed to do data capture at the screening venue and submit four copies of the underlisted documents to the Registration Officer:

1. Screening Form Generated From Stage 1
2. UTME Result Slip 
3. Evidence of Payment of Fees
4. UNILAG POST-UTME Result Slip
5. O’ Level Result Certificate (WAEC / NECO) Or Statement of Result with an online version of the Result
6. Letter of Reference from a Reputable Clergyman/Imam/Lawyer/Senior Civil Servant
7. Birth Certificate/Sworn Declaration of Age 
8. Testimonial from Secondary Schools Attended 
9. Certificate of State of Origin 
10. Jamb Admission Letter 
11. Passport Photographs (12 copies)

Stage 4: Faculty and Departmental Registration

Candidates are requested to visit their Faculties and Departments for registration.

Stage 5: Final Enrollment

Final enrolment is compulsory for all fully registered students. This will commence onMonday 19th December and ends on Thursday 22nd December, 2016. All candidates are expected to submit a copy of the following documents to the Registration Officers as well as Department and Faculty.

• Jamb admission letter ( if not previously submitted during screening)
• Completed and duly signed Students Biodata
• Completed and duly signed Students Information Form (SIF)
• Payment Acknowledgement Receipt

NOTE: Impersonation is a serious offence and anybody found guilty of this will automatically forfeit his/her admission and may be handed over to security operatives.
