Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST has announced the release of its first batch postgraduate admission list for the 2016/2017 academic session is now available online.

This is to inform all the candidates that applied for the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) postgraduate programmes admission for the 2016/2017 academic session that they can now check their admission status online.

The admission list of candidates offered provisional admission into RSUST postgraduate programmes are now available on the school official portal.

Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST has announced its clearance procedures disclaimer.

The attention of the University Management has been drawn to a publication Titled “RSUST CLEARANCE PROCEDURES” with the University Logo and supposedly signed by the Registrar of the University, Mrs D C Odimabo. The document is shown below.

This notice is to state categorically that the said publication is forged and NOT an official document of the University. The rates and charges stated in the said publication are fake and do not represent the approved rates by the University Management.

The General Public and all fresh students of the University are hereby advised to ignore the said publication and carry out their payment transactions based on the duly approved rates of the University.

RSUST Supplementary Admission Screening Form – 2016/2017

Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST has released its supplementary post UTME /admission screening form for candidates that could not meet the cut-off points for admission to the programmes of their choice is now on sale for the 2016/2017 academic session.

All candidates who attended the Post-UTME Screening Exercise for admission into the Rivers State University of Science and Technology for 2016/2017 Academic Session but could not meet the weighted average for admission into the programmes of their choice may now seek supplementary admission into other programmes in the University.

RSUST SUPPLEMENTARY POST UTME ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION METHOD.

1. Candidates must possess a minimum Score of 180 in the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
2. Candidates must possess the basic five (5) O’ level credit passes including English Language & Mathematics in accordance with the University’s Entry Requirements (Faculty/Departmental), before applying for the supplementary admission.
3. Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST has released its clearance schedule and requirements for the 2016/2017 academic session newly admitted students.

This is to inform all candidates who were offered Provisional Admission and have accepted the offer of admission into Year One (1) and Direct Entry/Inter-University Transfers for the 2016/2017 Academic Session, that Clearance Exercise shall commence from Monday 24th October, to Friday 4th November, 2016 by 9.00am – 3.00pm daily, at the Information Technology Centre (ITC) of the University.

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES

Candidates seeking admission for the Master of Science in the options listed above must have one of the following qualifications from recognized institutions:

Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minimum of Second Class Lower

Postgraduate Diploma in Economics with a CGPA of 3.50 or above on a 5-point grade system.

B. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES

In addition to satisfying the RSUST Matriculation qualifications, a candidate for a PhD programme shall also have the following:

An applicant for the PhD programme in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics Extension must possess a Master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 or above, on a five-point grade system, in any option in Economics, obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized institution of higher learning of equivalent status

For the PhD in Urban and Regional Planning, a candidate must possess a Master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 or above, on a five-point grade system, in Urban and Regional Planning, obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized institution of higher learning of equivalent In addition to the above, all qualified applicants will be required to submit a written research proposal which will be defended by the candidate during an oral interview.

An applicant for the D. programme in Estate Management must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower degree in Estate Management in addition to an MPhil. or MSc (with Dissertation or Thesis) in Estate Management; Real Estate; Land Economy or any cognate discipline from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized University with a minimum of CGPA of 3.50 on a five-point scale and 3.00 on a four-point scale.

No person shall be admitted to a programme unless his/her application has been approved by the Postgraduate School Board on behalf of Senate and on the recommendation of the appropriate Faculty Committee.

Note: In addition to the conditions above, a candidate may be required to present himself/herself for a selection test and/or oral interview.

HOW TO APPLY FOR RSUST SUPPLEMENTARY POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION.

Applications for admission to any postgraduate programme shall be made on-line by logging onto www.ust.edu.ng and making an e-payment of thirty thousand naira (N30,000.00) only, using interswitch verve – enabled cards. Application forms should be completed on-line, downloaded and hard copies submitted to the Secretary, Postgraduate School along with the following:

i) Photocopies of Certificates.

ii) Certified academic transcripts. (It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that copies of their academic transcripts are forwarded under confidential cover directly to The Secretary, Postgraduate School, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt).

iii) Letter of reference from three referees, including one from a previous academic institution, stating that applicant is qualified to undertake advanced studies and research and that he (the Referee) is confident that the applicant will benefit from the training.

iv) A brief research proposal on your intended areas of study should also accompany the application forms.
