UNIBEN Postgraduate Admission Application Form – 2017/2018

University of Benin, UNIBEN postgraduate programmes admission application form for the 2017/2018 academic session is out.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to the University of Benin (UNIBEN) postgraduate programmes admission for the 2017/2018 academic session. The postgraduate programmes lead to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters degree and Ph.D in the various Faculties/Schools/Institutes of the University of Benin.


UNIBEN POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS.

I. A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the university of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents,) A credit pass in Maths and English is required. 

II. Four credits of Ordinary level plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes.

III. A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3rd class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into the Masters programmes.

IV. Candidates who obtained Masters degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil programme in the first instance.

V. A candidate applying for the Ph.D in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a weighted average score of 60% or letter grade ‘B’ average in the Masters degree.

VI. A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master’s degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% or letter grade ‘B’.

VII. Only students who have the NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate can be allowed to clear into the different courses.

TRANSCRIPTS

Candidates should request their former Universities/Institutions to forward their academic transcript(s) to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies”, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication.

Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.

Referees Reports

Candidates should request their referees to mail reports on them directly to postgrad@uniben.edu.ng. or the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Applications shall not be processed unless the referee reports are available. Note: students are advised to always check the 
address/telephone when applying.

UNIBEN POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES ADMISSION METHOD OF APPLICATION.

Candidates are to purchase application forms online with valid VERVE OR MASTER ATM BANK CARD from any commercial bank in Nigeria for the sum of N12,050.00.

The Application form must be correctly filled with all information required before submitting online and thereafter printed out from the UNIBEN WAEUP PORTAL LINK @ https://uniben.waeup.org.

Click on REGISTER FOR APPLICATION after reading instructions on the page.

The following documents will be printed out from the Website:- application, referee, and Transcript request forms. Any form not properly filled will not be treated. 

All application processes must be completed by Tuesday, 30th May, 2017.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

Only candidate given admission into the various Pg programmes are to proceed to pay the total amount of Non-Refundable Acceptance fees itemised below.

Bank/Portal Charges – 3,000.00

Admission clearance – 20,000.00

ICT Levy – 6,000.00

Development levy – 15,000.00

MTN Net Library – 1,000.00

Total – 45,000.00

Note: Acceptance fee must be paid before candidates can be cleared.

UNIBEN Turns Out 61 First Class Graduates

University of Benin, UNIBEN will graduate not fewer than 9,281 first degree students in its 42nd convocation ceremony. Out of that number, 61 are graduating with first class degrees.

The management of the University of Benin on Monday said that no fewer than 61 graduands of the university would be awarded with first class degrees at its 42nd convocation ceremony.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, who disclosed this to journalists in Benin, said that 12,808 persons would be awarded various diplomas and degrees of the university during the convocation.

According to him, 154 graduates would bag doctorate degrees, 2,531 master’s degrees, 233 post-graduate diplomas, 9, 281 undergraduate degrees, 95 undergraduate diplomas and 514 unclassified.

He said that the ceremony would also feature the conferment of honorary degrees of Doctor of Science as well as Professor Emeritus to deserving Nigerians.

The vice-chancellor said the Convocation Lecture will be delivered by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.

This is to inform all the UTME and Direct Entry candidates offered provisional admission into the University of Benin (UNIBEN) various undergraduate programmes for the 2016/2017 academic session that the management of the institution has released the clearance procedure they have to follow.


UNIBEN CLEARANCE SCHEDULE – UTME AND DE.
  1. The UTME and Direct Entry Candidates admitted into University of Benin for 2015/2016 academic session are required to login at https://www.uniben.edu, click waeup portal with the PUTME/PUDE username and password used for their application and result checking.

  1. Click on “Download application slip”. Print it and take note of your ID and You will henceforth, use your ID and Password for subsequent login. Login and print your provisional admission letter.

  1. Only candidates with THE RIGHT PASSPORT SIZE (1-inch X 1-inch) WITH RED BACKGROUND PHOTOGRAPH USED FOR PUTME & PUDE ALREADY EMBEDDED IN their DOCUMENTS AND WITH requisite results to clear should proceed to pay THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF non-refundable acceptance fee ITEMIZED BELOW.

On the Menu, click on “My data” select “Payment” option then click on “Add onlinepayment ticket”
Select from the Payment Category, Acceptance Fee and click on “Create Ticket”button and then click the link under Payment ID.

Click on the “College Pay” button to view payment details and click the “Submit”button to proceed with the payment through Interswitch payment gateway.
Select your ATM Card type: Verve or Master Card and supply the card details (card number, expiration date, 4-digit PIN etc) as required.

Then click on “PAY”

If payment is successful, an acceptance slip will appear on the screen. Copy the “Clearance Activation Code” on the acceptance payment slip.

Click on “My Data” on the menu and select “Clearance data” Enter your “Clearance Activation Code”to open yourClearance/Eligibility form.

Fill the Clearance/Eligibility Form appropriately. Scan and upload the following documents:
  • “O’ level Certificates and Statements of ‘O’ level results from the schools
  • Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age
  • Acceptance Letter
  • Guarantor’s Letter
  • Affidavit of Good Conduct
  • Affidavit of Non-Membership of Secret Cults
  • JAMB & UNIBEN offer of Provisional Admission slips

Please note: that affidavits sworn in any Court of Law in Nigeria are acceptable) Payment of acceptance fee commences Friday 11th November, 2016

At the bottom of the Clearance/Eligibility Form, click on the “Save” button to return later and complete the form OR click on “Save and request clearance” button to finally submit your Clearance/Eligibility Form when you are done. You cannot edit the Clearance /Eligibility Form after final submission.

Click on “Download clearance slip” button and print your Clearance/Eligibility slip. Present it with online payment receipt, six (6) copies each of the listed items a to g in item 12, including six coloured passport photographs with red background and WAEC/NECO Scratch Card for checking results online to the clearance officers. The original credentials are for sighting during the physical clearance.

Physical clearance commences Monday 14th November to Friday 16th December, 2016 at the relevant faculties Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5 pm each day.

Limited accommodations are available for Fresh candidates.

Prohibition of Financial Transactions at Clearance Venue: There shall be no financial transactions in whatever form at the Main Auditorium Clearance Venue. Consequently, sales of Faculty Prospectus, Collection of dues, levies and other forms of Payment and Purchases are strictly prohibited. The release of completed and signed Clearance/eligibility form to student should not be tied to any other payment other than the fund paid for clearance.
